Acrobat 9 — A Game Changer for eBooks
There is a very successful author that does seminars across Canada. He has a couple of books. He sells them at his seminars and they are sold in trade bookstores.
A couple of months ago his publisher was keen to look at new products — to somehow bridge the gap between book and seminar. They decided to do an audio series on CD.
Sigh.
If only Acrobat 9 had been around. Sections of the seminar could have been captured on video and inserted into the text of the ebook PDF. The file would be downloadable and therefore way more compelling than a subscription backed website.
Squabbles about the IDPF ebook standard aside, a rich media ebook is a game changer. Kudos to the first publisher to able to bring one to market.
