Bad Movie Habit: Doomsday
It is pretty sad pickings out there in the theatres. Normally a bounty of flawed festival films are released this time of year. When I wasn’t looking Rogue Pictures dropped a high-cost sci-fi production in their midst. The movie poster didn’t telegraph the so-bad-its-good potential of this one. I almost missed it. It turns out it wasn’t good enough or bad enough to win me over. Homage soup.

To play along at home assemble the following at random. You will literally get the picture.
- Aeon Flux — the heroine and the heroine’s outfit
- Alien 2 — the heroine, the marines, and the marines’ land vehicles
- Mad Max 2 — the marauders, their cars, the tanker chase, hood ornaments
- Pulp Fiction — the gimp as fore-mentioned ornament
- Harry Potter — platform 9 and three quarters
- Escape from New York — the over the transom mission brief and the eye patch
- Evil Dead II — headless girlfriend
- The Wanderers — baddies on a school bus
- 28 Days Later — quarantined vomiting zombies in the UK
- I Am Legend + Resident Evil: Apocalypse — doomed refugees at the gate
- Excalibur — armoured knights… what else?
- Reign of Fire — castle refuges
- Dawn of The Dead — zombie humour
- Rambo II — the helicopter evac
- Underworld — Kate Beckinsale… no wait!
and one final reference that I couldn’t place but I know I have seen — punk rockstar cannibals
