“Book Publishers are The Biggest Hair Pullers in the Entire World”

Two Bloomberg reporters — Joseph Galante and Greg Bensinger issued a story today saying Amazon’s Kindle pricing strategy could undermine book publishers’ profits. To which I say “New business model meet old business model. Please be friends.”

That is to say the story passed by me on Twitter in a flash.

Picture 74Then I tuned into The Buzz OutLoud podcast from cNet.com. The commentary on the story by Molly Wood, Tom Merritt and crew made my drink come out my nose. It is awesome. Wood — who back in the day worked at O’Reilly — goes on a rant that everybody in the business needs to hear.

To get warmed up she says ” What are publishers not worried about? These people are the biggest hair pullers in the entire world. They are just hand wringing ninnies, non-stop about everything.” And it just gets better after that.

For the record I own an imaginary t-shirt with an ‘I Heart TheMolly‘ iron-on decal.
