BookRiff.com: Self-Publishing For Everybody

Picture 56

Protagonize.com’s Nick Bouton pointed me to a new startup called BookRiff. BookRiff offers Lulu-like self-publishing and print-on-demand services for authors with an incopyright twist — users can create a ‘riff’ that includes content from websites and books written by other people. For example users can create their own travel guide of Vancouver by uploading content from different sources and have a bound book mailed to them. Presumably the use of incopyright content from publishers is brokered via partnership. There isn’t a ton of information on the website for third party publishers so the BookRiff people likely have to come to you.

Check out the BookRiff video (sorry no embed) for an overview of the service.

BTW Nick and the Protagonize crew have launched groups on their site. The functionality offers a clean well lighted place for writing groups to gather. :-) Well done and congratulations Nick.
