Calling Martin Levin — Globe and Mail Books Section Needs New Blood

globe and mail book section
When I saw Amazon.ca’s usual weekly full page ad in the Globe and Mail buried in the Arts section on Saturday it took me a second to realize the entire book section was missing. It turns out news of the book section’s hiatus passed me by (thanks RJO). The experience of readers chronicled at Book Ninja was similar to my own. At first wtf? Then quickly WTF?

I hope, I hope, I hope the Globe and Mail book editors take this opportunity to get creative with their Arts coverage. The section needs a freshening up. And I would love to see better coverage online — or at least I would like the editors to acknowledge that their existing format doesn’t work online. Some photos and RSS would be a great start. Is The Guardian such a bad example to follow?
