Globe and Mail Books: Two Days Away
CTV has issued another press release for this weekend’s debut of the Globe and Mail’s book mini-site. A couple of tidbits that I didn’t know (that may or may not have been previously announced):
- The G&M books section will include a series called Ask the Author. It “will give readers a
chance to interact with their favourite writers. The series will feature the
leading authors of the day responding to reader questions.” My hope upon hopes is that this isn’t conducted in realtime. - Globe & Mail Books editor Martin Levin is going to blog. <Fist pump>
- The Globe will commission “Author Essays by high profile authors: [authors] will contribute written essays on topics outside their novels.”
- A ‘Buried Treasure’ feature “picked weekly by well known figures”
- The reporters will also start covering industry news, hereunto a minuscule portion of their coverage.
In the not so newsworthy category I also learned…
- The site will have “National AND Canadian best seller lists”
Still no mention if their paywall will come down. Five bucks is a lot to pay for a book review from 2001.
Stoked to see what they come with…
