No End In Sight
“We are a war universe. War all the time. There may be other universes, but ours seems to be based on war and games.” William S. Burroughs from a title card from King of Kong
Every month some friends and I get together for a movie double header. Two movies. Six friends. Takeout. Good times. This time around I had already seen both flics — Charles Ferguson’s No End In Sight and King of Kong. War and games. I haven’t written anything about No End, so here goes…
First, why hasn’t anyone signed Barbara Bodine to a book deal? Ferguson presents all his interviewees in a bipartisan fashion. Bodine is no exception, but from what I can
gather from Wikipedia she is a controversial figure in some circles. I would be keen to hear more from her in her own words — even at magazine length.
Second, I would also like to know more about General Shinseki. With months to retirement, I wonder if he pulled a BunnyColvin style career ender or was he simply “stuck in his ways”.
Third, wholly crap… what an indefensible nightmare.
No End in Sight is a must see for political wonks. If you consider yourself a citizen of the world (that means everybody) you should probably see it too. Ferguson has just released a book of the same name. Not sure if the book is as powerful.
