Off-line Web Reading On The iPhone Using Stanza

I spend a lot of time in the subway these days and that means lots of downtime with no internet connectivity. The “Open Location” feature in Stanza-For-Desktop has been a life saver.

Here is how it works:

1. On your computer, open Stanza
2. On the File menu, choose Open Location

3. Paste the url of the article you want to read

4. Choose Open
5. On the Tools menu, check Enable Sharing

6. On your iPhone, open Stanza
7. Choose Shared Books

8. Choose your computer from those listed

9. On your computer a pop-up window will open asking if you allow sharing. Choose Allow.

10. On your iPhone download the content and you’re done. Happy reading.

This is great for New Yorker articles and any other long-form journalism.

Thanks to @Ihnatko for the tip.

You should try the free NYT iPhone app. I love it. Aside from being able to increase text size in preferences and other good design details, you can easily ‘save’ articles to read later on the subway, etc.
