Orca Launches Hi-lo Series For Adults
This spring Orca Books is launching an adult imprint called RapidReads. Gail Bowen and Zoe Whittall are among the four authors in the initial launch. At 20,000 words or less they are perfect for the attention deficit plagued public. And the series would make perfect ebooks. One sitting, one read. In that way they are reminiscent of the pocket Penguins from a few years ago. I was surprised therefore to discover they are being marketed at reluctant adult readers and ESL buyers. I would have been happy to haveĀ a series of short works aimed at me. No matter. As long as they land in regular bookstores (or an e-store) I will happily check them out.
Come to think of it — why hasn’t Penguin UK launched an iPhone app with all the pocket editions? That would be amazing!
