How do you convince your boss that Twittering is worthwhile. NUMBERS. I don’t mean number of followers, I mean number of sales specifically tracked to your tweets.

How do you do that?
You can track only those clicks that go to a website you have authorization to analyze using something such as Google Analytics. Set up your tracking so that every tweet is followed through to the dollar value of the sale.

I’ve been in the advertising business many years. It is a mistake to automatically think that Twitter is going to give you 100’s or 1000’s of followers who breathlessly watch every move you make and buy everything you recommend. It doesn’t happen in radio and it doesn’t happen on Twitter.

I think what you're saying is true, and I'd add that with twitter you can listen to many voices and hear what they are saying about you or even topics that are related to your books. What better way is there to introduce your book?

I absolutely agree -- publishers who have yet to properly get into online marketing should hire Erin! :)
